Smoking Rules When Visiting Loved One in Prison

Most facilities are now non-smoking. If the facility you are visiting is non-smoking, then you cannot smoke anywhere in the facility. This may include the parking lot and even in your car when you are parked in the parking lot. In addition, most facilities have become non-smoking for inmates. Even if the facility does allow inmates to smoke, you cannot send cigarettes to your loved one.

Vehicle Parking at the Prison Facility

The facility should provide a parking area free of charge. Be mindful that even though your car may be locked, all vehicles are subject to search. Make sure there is nothing that can be construed as contraband in your car. It is also a good idea to not have valuables in the car and if you do, lock them in the vehicle’s trunk. The facility is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
